“I want to raise money for the people who helped me”

In 2022, the crew from EAAA Anglia One attended Caitlin when she was badly injured in an equestrian incident in 2022.

After her recovery, Caitlin raised £550 in aid of EAAA and, this September, she will be joined by four members of her family as they take on our Only The Brave mini mud course.

Only The Brave is one of EAAA’s flagship fundraising events. The mini obstacle course run is perfect for families with children aged 5+. The 1.8-mile route includes eight obstacles, from giant hurdles and dodging water guns, to crawling under cargo nets. Caitlin and her family can’t wait to have loads of fun navigating the course, and we recently caught up with them to hear more.

“I want to help raise money for the people who helped me,” Caitlin says when asked why she is taking part in Only The Brave this year, while her little brother, Ryan says that he’s looking forward to crawling in the mud and getting wet and muddy!

Caitlin also can’t wait to experience the obstacles, and says she is mainly looking forward to the water slide.

EAAA receives no regular government funding and relies almost entirely on the kind donations and support of the public.

Caitlin with her mum Sophie

Mum, Sophie, took part in Only The Brave in 2023 and thinks it’s lovely that the 1.8-mile course is perfect for families. Sophie says: “It was such a great atmosphere; everyone pulled together and had fun to raise money for such a worthy cause. I feel proud of everyone for taking part!”

Caitlin adds that, this year, she would absolutely love to match her previous fundraising of EAAA of £550. With her mum, Nana, brother and cousin by her side, we are sure the fabulous five will have a wonderful time as they strive towards their fundraising target so EAAA crews can help more people, just like they helped Caitlin two years ago.

Caitlin says: “It’s important to me and it makes me happy I can help people.”

Sophie adds: “We are all very much looking forward to taking part in Only The Brave 2024!”

A huge thank you and good luck to Caitlin and her family for taking on this year’s Only The Brave! This year’s Only The Brave 1.8-mile mini course is now sold out, but you can still get involved by contributing to Caitlin’s fundraising here or contact us on info@eaaa.org.uk to enquire about volunteering at this year’s event (18+).
